The Team

After various meetings with your would be sponsor in your future Network Marketing company and countless questions about the compensation plan, the products, the training and so on, you seem satisfied with the answers and ready to join. But wait a minute. Have you asked about the Team?

What Team? You may ask. The football Team?

Of course not, not the football one. In Network Marketing people may be in business for themselves but not by themselves. Up the organization’s line are a lot of people who are to gain from your efforts and your sales volume and as a consequence they have a great incentive to teach you and help you succeed in this business.

You see, your sponsor is not alone. He has his own sponsor and so his sponsor, too, all the way up the ladder. They are his team and so would be yours when you join. If you read Robert Kiyosaki’s books, like I do, you would have read that business is a Team sport and since Network Marketing is a business it is a Team sport also. People who work within Teams are more successful, than those who try to do it alone, in all fields.

So as a would be distributor before you join a company, among other things, is equally important to ask your sponsor about his Team. What’s better, ask to come in contact with them, whether in person or on the phone if the first is not possible. Actually in today’s MLM world, with the capability the world wide web gives us to advertise and recruit all over the world, to meet them in person would become less and less possible. So you would have to rely heavily on the phone. If you don’t already use a Voip service (Voice Over Internet Protocol) like Skype start doing it cause it’s going to save you a lot of money. Imagine to leave in England and communicating with a prospect in New Zealand in regular phone rates. But that’s another story let’s get back to the Team now.

As I said don’t hesitate to communicate with the rest of the Team and get to know them before you join. Do you like these people? Would you be able to work together and get along with them in a friendly, relaxed and business like manner? What kind of support and training can give to you? Do they hold any team meetings? Do they do any Team training besides the training you get from the company? Would they read fairy tales to you every night to help you sleep? No, not really, you don’t have to ask the last question unless is that important to you. But you get the point. You should get as much information as you can before you commit yourself.

To get to know them, before you join, besides the extra support, training and things like that is also prudent to do so for another factor you may not anticipating. Your sponsor might quit. It’s no secret that the MLM industry has a big failure rate with a lot of people quiting within the first months. I don’t want to argue on the reasons that lead to this phenomenon in this post, but it’s part of the game. Like any other, your sponsor that you liked so much and you were expecting on his help and support may decide to quit for various reasons. In that case if there is not a strong Team behind you, or one that you like and you can communicate comfortably with, you are practically left alone. And now what? Do you continue on your own struggling to build your business? Do you quit too? And if you decide to quit what about the people you brought in your organization? You abandon them? What if you were starting to make some profit and the future was starting to look more bright? Would you abandon, no matter how little it seems, what you have built so far?

I believe now that you can get how important is the Team and, besides the help it can give you, from what kind of future troubles it can also protect you.

Don’t forget that a Team can stand for Together Everyone Achieves More
