Make A List Of Friends And Relatives. No Thanks!
November 21st, 2007 | by Chris |If you ever got sponsored in an MLM company with the traditional word of mouth method, meaning you bumped onto someone in a shopping mall, seminar or other place and he was lucky to find someone like you, one of the first things you were supposed to do after you join was to build a list of those you know. The purpose: to contact them and give them the chance to join you as distributors or, if they didn’t want, as customers. After all, this is such a great opportunity that naturally you want to share it first with the people you love and care for, so you can help them. So you build the list and then go on phoning every uncle Bob and cousin Ben in it.
The very thought of helping those you know while at the same time you build your business and that you can all of you become rich and financially free it’s a very sweet and caring one. The whole concept of spreading the MLM idea and wealth in such an easy, cost free and non-businesslike manner is very noble, revolutionary and worthy. But it has a small flaw.
It’s a BS.
Those of you that tried that you know what I mean. If a 10% percent of the people in the world are interested in starting their own business when it comes to those you know that percent magically transforms to a 1%. Unless you are a well respected and successful man or woman, in which case they would join only because of you, your chances are dim.
So it turns out to be a waste of time to follow that avenue, which is a contradictory thing since the industry that advocates how valuable your time is to trade it for money in a job, pushes you to lose your time for nothing, or a negligible return in customers or distributors.
The Network Marketing business, although it uses a unique revolutionary system, doesn’t stop being a business. As such in order for someone to prosper as a distributor has to treat it accordingly. Like any other businessman he needs to figure out what his market is and where his potential customers and future distributors are, so he can reach them. It’s nothing more than advertising and sales and how you can improve your skills in order to do it better, something that traditional businesses do it all the time but most of the people in MLM tend to neglect it.
