Do You Make A Daily To-Do List?

December 19th, 2007 | by Chris |

One of the things that greatly helped me to stay focused and consequently increased my productivity was that of making a list of the things I should do the next day, every night. This procedure not only can help you in your MLM home business but you can use it for almost everything in your life. I know that you might think “hey Chris, my brain can do that perfectly, most of the time. No need to write them down.”

Unfortunately no matter how well your mind can do that there a lot of drawbacks when you don’t write them on paper.

First, your mind responds to your emotional state and may bring up first the thing that you feel better at doing at that time. However that may not be what would make the most difference and better help your business. There is a high probability that you will spend your first hours doing trivial things and you will end up squeezing the most important ones at the end when you would be more tired. That very often can lead you to postpone those tasks and continue doing so until they become pressing. The worst thing is that they may never become pressing but may being one of those few things that if you don’t do, your business may never take off or even start showing results.

Second, having all those things running through your mind can become a great distraction itself. Imagine that you start working on a task and to continuously have you brain bursting all the other things you have to do, into your thought. You try to push them out but you know that you will need them later so you don’t keep them out effectively. That can seriously hammer your productivity as you are not focused on the task giving the best of yourself.

Third, every time you complete a task and you put a strikethrough on it you get a feeling of satisfaction. No matter how small, it counts and gives you a sense of accomplishment. That small victories can stimulate you to work harder and keep you in a good mood which increases your productivity.

Now you may say “OK you convinced me. But is it necessary to use a sheet of paper? Can I use a notepad on my computer or a similar program?”

Well, I wouldn’t reject using a software doing this as long as you keep it on paper, too. It’s not that I am old-fashioned but it seems your brain can connect better when it sees them written by your hand. Probably due to recognizing your hard writing but no one knows for sure.

So if you really want to become more efficient and boost your MLM business you should acquire this habit and start using it….. Why not from today? This night before you go to sleep take a sheet of paper and write down tomorrow’s to-do list. That would be your homework for today. And no it doesn’t have to be a big list even a single task can be sufficient. Start small and then build up.
