Do You Squidoo?
February 6th, 2008 | by Chris |There a lot of ways to promote and drive traffic to your website, one of them is by using Squidoo.
But let’s see what it is first.
Squidoo is a website where anyone, for free, can set up a single page called lens on a topic he likes. Users that create lenses are called lensmasters. It’s not only an easy to use platform for building webpages, but it also has characteristics of a social network as users can rate other pages, favor them, or link to them from their own lens through a function called lensroll that puts a small picture of the page that links to it on a sidebar. All of them help the rankings of lenses when someone performs a search in squidoo.
But how can you use it?
Well, first you can build a lens yourself on your subject, Network Marketing, your product, or even yourself, why not. Second you can link back from there to your website to boost your search engine rankings or direct your lenses readers there. Third you can put the articles you write there besides submitting them to article directories. Squidoo is favored from Google and if you do your keyword research right some may get good search engine rankings. That can also help you drive even more traffic.
But the most important thing is that you can socialize with other lensmasters. Do a search to find similar lenses with yours on the same subject and visit them. When there, rate their page and if they use a guestbook feature, leave a comment there. Most lensmasters would visit yours to rate and comment, too. That, of course, can help your lens ranking. Furthermore you may find users willing to do a lensroll exchange to further boost internal but also search engine rankings.
What you should remember is not to over-do it. Don’t waste all your time building pages and socializing there. Remember that your objective is to drive traffic to your main site and help your search engine rankings. After all Squidoo is someone else’s property and not yours. It’s not prudent to build someone else’s website. Do it to the extend that it also helps your business and nothing more than that.
A great benefit that the platform has is that it’s very easy to create a page. No more complicate than starting a blogger blog. If you get stuck, there is a lot of help in squidoo university. If you are a complete newb and you prefer step by step instructions on how to build a lens you can check Tiffany Dow’s ebook on the subject. Besides a few advanced tips it’s not knowledge that you cannot find anywhere else and as I said I would recommend it only if you are facing a hard time with things like that.
After you build your first lens don’t forget to visit my MLM lens and leave a comment at my guestbook. It’s not a fancy one, it only has the bare essentials, just what it needs to do its job. And of course, don’t forget to leave a link to your lens.
But don’t lose time start building your Own Lens right now.
