Stumbleupon
April 11th, 2008 | by Chris |Another social bookmarking site to use, besides what we talked at the last two posts, is stumbleupon, which is somehow a little different in how it works. The unique feature it has is that you can randomly visit sites that others bookmarked, based on your preferences.
When you join you download a toolbar for your web-browser and you do everything from there. You can bookmark sites, vote up or down already bookmarked ones, leave comments and of course a button that when pressed it brings you randomly a new site.
They have very good algos to prevent people from gaming the system and every time I used it I ended at very good and interesting quality websites. In order to manage to generate traffic from there you need good content and design that would make other users vote for it. With only your own stumble you can’t accomplish much.
If you want to use it you should have a well designed site that catches the eye and good content that can appeal to a broader audience since its traffic is not targeted.

It also has socializing features where you can add friends that you may want for “helping” each other, but unless the page you bookmark has good content and design it won’t go far.
It’s much more useful for a site around the benefits of your products and not for the opportunity factor. Besides the traffic, many webmasters are using it and you may use it also for linkbaiting like other bookmarking sites.
You can also buy traffic from them, but most that have tried it complain that they didn’t get good results.
