Contrarian Online MLM Advertising
May 2nd, 2008 | by Chris |Since we’ve been carried away into contrarianism at the last two posts and mention offline prospecting as an alternative to the crowded world wide web, let’s allow ourselves to delve into exploring some contrarian thinking in the field of online promotion. Yes, even there there are fads and trends within the trend and abandoned, out of the spotlight, ways and methods that you can use to get sales and new distributors.
And of course the latest craze in the circles of network marketing is nothing else but the social networks. “Just go where the people are” they say, which is more than true and sound to do so. But the problems arise when everybody and his neighbor is there, trying to do what you are doing.
When the ratio of “hunters” or marketers to the general population increases in such places it is expected that you would have to work harder for recruiting the same numbers or sell the same amount of products. Not to mention that participants may grow wary and in defensive mode, leading the masters of the networks to impose harder rules and trying to eradicate such practices in order to safeguard the profitability of their businesses.

Of course, I don’t advocate that you should abandon that method entirely as it is a very fast way to get your business rolling if you do it correctly, avoiding spamming the users. Although its weakness lies in scalability. Since it is a one to one prospecting method your greatest constraint is the time that you can devote.
But since it is the new craze, somewhere else there must be left more opportunity for those willing to restrain themselves for overdoing it in the social arena, right?
And the answer is that of course there is. Maybe in the fields of good ol’ search engine optimization, pay per click, or article marketing. Many distributors especially new ones when they start building their multi level marketing business they’re passing by altogether such methods getting head over heels into the online social frenzy, leaving more breathing space and opportunity to those left behind.
