MLM As A Multi Tier Affiliate Program

May 9th, 2008 | by Chris |

I wrote before that I consider network marketing as an affiliate program with multiple tiers or levels, but it also has a twist, something that set it apart and distinguish it while giving it more advantages at the same time. But let’s see how an affiliate opportunity, let’s say two tiered, works.

Well, someone goes and join directly to the network or through someone else’s link and his now an affiliate ready to push the product to the world. The first thing he has to do if he is a complete newb is to actually find out how to do it. Yes, I am sorry, I am afraid there is no training and no one to guide you. You have to figure it out all by yourself or spend a small fortune on courses and books that of course can’t guarantee that you would be able to succeed.

Usually if it is two tiered the one who got you in probably won’t have much time teaching you as he is busy selling himself. After all his incentives are minimal for him to do so. He makes more money directly than by helping others. He just throw out his link, if he catches someone who will end becoming a super-affiliate by himself it’s free money to him and it doesn’t cost him much time to throw the nets out there.

As you understand that is not the best situation to get yourself in if you are just beginning and you are clueless about online promotion or business in general. Yes, if you are determined and you won’t give up eventually you would manage to find your way to make a living, but it would take you time and money. And a mentor in most cases.

But now let’s come to multilevel marketing. Here we also have the selling of products or services from where the money comes from and the network which is the company handling all the logistics. But we also have something more powerful. The moment you get in, you instantly have your own mentor who is no one else but your sponsor. And he is not alone, he has a whole team behind him to support him and you.

Of course we don’t stop there. No matter how basic are, companies have their training programs to get you started. At least most of them. But the real training is not coming from there, it is coming from your sponsor and your team. The people who are already in the trenches and are making sales. The people that test new things and are always on the lookout for new ways for advertising and promotion. And once they test them they are ready to spread it down to whole organization. And be sure that they have the greatest incentive in the world to do so.

The pay-plan of the company is such that rewards those who develop leaders and networks responsible for big sales volumes. Of course, you may be arguing that all that money that goes to the upper levels is cutting your own commissions, but for everything in life there is a trade-off. If they didn’t have that incentive you wouldn’t have the free MLM training and support and you would be required to waste money and time doing so on your own.
