MLM Promotion and Search Engines
January 30th, 2009 | by Chris |There are many ways for someone to drive traffic to his MLM blog or website, but one of the best methods which gives and the best quality of visitors-prospects is no other than search engine promotion. There are two ways to drive traffic from search engines to your site, by paying for it or pay per click (PPC) as it’s called, or by appearing to the organic search engine results by optimizing your site and getting backlinks (SEO).
The first method requires money but as long as you make more in the process is a good way to go since it can give you the highest quality of MLM prospects. Of course you need to spend some time learning some techniques and tricks that would help you reduce your advertising costs and send you more traffic. The second method requires your time unless you can afford to hire others to optimize your website for you and it is still an excellent source of prospects although it takes time before it would start giving results.
A network marketer should employ both these methods as well as others that we don’t mention here in order to get the most out of his business and his online properties. Of course if his economics don’t allow him to do otherwise he would have to rely more on the free methods that require his time and constant effort.
Why Use Search Engine Promotion For Multi Level Network Marketing? by By Rich Sale
Search Engine Promotion or SEP is one of the most financially rewarding ways to get the most from your network marketing web site. Let’s explore the concept of SEP.
SEPT covers a number of different techniques (on-page and off-page) that when combined promote a particular set of web pages and relate them to particular sets of keyword phrases in the eyes of the search engines. When a page is promoted well it will appear on the first page of the search results when someone searches for the particular keyword phrase. If that particular phrase is used in a lot of searches then it goes with out saying that additional free traffic will be driven to that page.
This means that you do not need to run Pay-Per-Click (PPC) or Google AdWords to drive traffic to your page. However, if the particular keyword phrase is profitable then it is quite often beneficial to run PPC campaigns along side the organic results because you can increase your click through rate by appearing twice on the same page.
There are some who argue that organic search engine traffic is of a much higher quality when compared to that of paid traffic. However, this is definitely not the case.
The traffic a web page gets is only as good as the copy that was used to attract it. If the words on your web page are semantically confusing then any SEP is also going to give confusing results. This would undoubtedly result in poor untargeted organic traffic (if you were to get any at all). But likewise if your PPC campaigns are centred around the wrong keyword phrases you will most likely receive the wrong type of traffic.
It is also true that Google AdWords uses a quality score to drive the actual cost per click! So if, in Google’s eyes, the words on the landing web page for a particular ad campaign semantically match that of the keyword phrases then Google will award a high quality score and reduce the local cost per click.
Conversely if the words on the page do not match the keywords then a penalty will be awarded (which can be quite severe at times). So it is quite often the case that someone near the top of the paid results will be paying less than someone below them.

So you can see why SEP is so lucrative not only does it help to get free organic traffic but it also helps to reduce your PPC advertising costs. Next, lets explore the market for SEPT in network marketing.
The reason why SEP is great for your network marketing business is because it operates in a relatively low competition market (especially when compared to debt consolidation or credit cards). This is due to the fact that not that many traditional network marketers have brought their business fully online. However people who are successful with SEP may decide not to get involved in network marketing, possibly preferring to spend their time following other online methods of generating income. They may be afraid of network marketing (some people may try to recruit them or they may just not want to part of that industry).
Many Multi Level Marketing companies run generic branded web sites. These are almost impossible to promote well using conventional on-page SEP techniques. Many choose to promote their own web pages or blog for their particular product and then channel this traffic through to the company branded site. Simply put, very few network marketers are ‘SEP experts’ and very few SEP experts are network marketers. This is a great opportunity for those who understand both SEP and Network Marketing.
For those who don’t fit this category there is still a way forwards by partnering with someone who can provide the missing information and experience.
