Being overly friendly and extremely talkative doesn't hurt the reality is that doesn't describe most network marketers. Being honest and sincere in communicating with prospects is the important part of crafting the sales message.

Very true. The ability to build a network marketing business online (without the absolute need to recruit in your warm market right away) has brought a lot of people on board who otherwise would never consider it. I don't recommend totally avoiding your warm market, but why not build your business up with prospects who come looking for you first?

I've long believed that any MLM or network marketing business that requires you to "get in on the ground floor" in order to be successful will not last. Same thing with pre-launch opportunities - if it's a good deal during pre-launch and a great business, then it will be just as good after the launch. Don't get sucked in by promises and "potential" that isn't proven. There are plenty of real opportunities out there with proven track records and measurable success.

There's a difference between sharing and preying. I don't suggest to keep it secret what you do from those you know, but don't have high expectations and try to chase them. There are many distributors that keep insisting with friends and relatives and don't take no as an answer.

From my experience strangers are more willing to listen to you than friends and relatives. And besides it makes more sense to try to focus on finding people that are already looking for what you have to offer than trying your luck with everyone. It's much more efficient and saves you a lot of time.

The problem here is the if you are in a network marketing company with a product that is not worth sharing with your friends and/or family should you really be in that business in the first place. I would say the first rule for mlm success is pick a company with products that you are passionate enough about to share with people you know

Chris,

well said! One of the biggest reasons for failure in network marketing is unrealistic expectations. Also on my list is lack of: skillset, mindset, marketing system, self branding and coaching.

I can see you're already on your way to all of these.

Be Great,

Hi Chris-

Great post!

I've been using twitter for about 2 months, not very agressively, just doing some of these things, and I have almost 200 followers now!

I got about 20 new today. I think it is because some bigger internet marketers are following me now, and people tend to follow the people they are following (I theorize).

Anyway, another good thing to do is twitter out everytime you right up a report too, and post it to places like scribd or docstoc. I always get 15-20 views usually within minutes of posting something new. Plus, having it tied into ezinearticles helps get good exposure there too.

Chris,

This is so important. I totally agree with you on this because I see so many people not know how to market after they contact their family and friends. It caused me to loose a lot of money in network marketing. If I knew then what I know now about seo then I think I would have gone about that completely different. It is all about building yourself as an authority in your field and helping others see it without being pushy. Thanks for the great article. Feel free to email me for a link exchange if you are interested!
